May 23rd, 2008 at 1:44 pm
Raggedy Ann and Andy have brought love to littles girls for years. When guest arrive paint their faces with red circles on their cheeks and a black one on thier nose. If you have time make red yarn wigs for each guest to wear too. After everyone arrives why not have each guest make their own Raggedy Ann or Andy. Use white paper plates, red yarn black buttons for eyes, a triangle cut out of red construction paper. The guest can either use red yard for the mouth or just have them draw one on.

Did you know that Raggedy Ann was a fictional character from a children’s book that started in early 1900’s. She was made into a doll in 1915. Then her good friend Andy was created in 1920. Raggedy Ann was created by Johnny Gruelle and was a gift to his thirteen year old daughter.
I love the colors of these dolls, the red, blue and white are great to use in decorating a bedroom. These party supplies would be a great 1st birthday party for a little girl or boy. And you must give the dolls as gifts. It is amazing to me that they have been around for so long and still very popular.

Have a Raggedy Ann and Andy Show and Tell. Invite your guests to bring their own Raggedy Ann or Andy. After everyone arrives, have each guest introduce themself and their special doll. Have them tell where they got their Raggedy Ann or Andy and what they like to do with them.

Raggedy Ann & Andy would make a great addition to any party! If you’re having a 4th of July party this year, this deluxe pacakge of party supplies would be a wonderful compliment to your other decorations - you can set up an area just for the kids with these whimsical characters.
If you’re having a Raggedy Ann & Andy party, and need a good activity to keep all those little hands busy, try making homemade play-dough. Try this recipe:
4 cups flour
1/4 cup salt
1 1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon oil
Food Coloring
Mix together the flour and salt. Mix water and oil. Gradually stir the water and oil mix into the flour mix. Knead the mix as you add the liquid. Add more water if too stiff, more flour if sticky. Once it is the desired consistency set it aside. When your guests arrive give them each a pair of rubber gloves, and a few drops of their favorite color (Foor Coloring) - let them knead the dough until the entire thing is a new color. They’ll love watching their play dough change colors, and they have an instant party favor!
Test the recipe prior to party to know how much is needed for all guests.

Here’s a great game for your Raggedy Ann & Andy party. Surprise Package. This is a great game because everyone gets a surprise. Start by wrapping Raggedy Ann and Andy themed gift in brightly colored paper. Continue wrapping additional layers around the gift, adding a small party favor or sticker with each new layer of paper. At the party, seat the guests in a circle, and let the first guest unwrap a layer. When they have discovered a prize, the package is then passed to the guest on the right. As more and more layers are removed, the anticipation for what lies in the middle will continue to grow.

Have a Raggedy Ann & Andy Relay Race. Have the guest divide into two equal teams. You will have the Raggedy Ann and the Andy Team. Each team will have a back pack and either a Raggedy Ann or Andy Doll. Set a chair a fair distance away from the teams. Have the teams line up. The first person in line will put on the back pack and place their doll inside. They then must run to the chair and place the doll in it. The guest then runs back to the line. The second guest then puts the back pack on and runs to get the doll. Places it in the pack and runs back and hands the doll off to the next person in line. Continue the game until each child has run the course.
