When it’s time to celebrate your daughter’s first birthday there are a few things to keep in mind when planning a party.
Celebrating a first birthday is usually means more for the adults in your daughter’s life than her friends- make sure to invite the people that have kept a special place in their hearts for your little princess over the past year - the more involved they were in her life, the more excited they will be to celebrate her first birthday!
If you decide to invite other babies or toddlers make sure you have plenty of adult help during the party. Make sure to provide activities or toys that are age-appropriate for the guests. Keep breakables out of reach - just because your daughter knows where to go and how to act in your house, it doesn’t mean other children will have the same courtesy - shut any doors that lead to areas where children don’t need to go, and “baby proof” the party area.
Remember to be flexible. The goal is to have fun, not be stressed out - your little sweetie certainly won’t care if her dress is a little wrinkled- so you shouldn’t either. And be prepared for unexpected tears and outbursts from other children - remember, this could be their first birthday party, and they are still learning what it means to be social!
And most importantly, remember to take pictures and enjoy the day. If you can hardly believe its alraedy been a year, just think of how you’ll feel 15 years from know when she’s celebrating her sweet 16 - so take everything in and cherish the moments!
