What could be more natural for a birthday party theme than Buzz Lightyear. His introduction in the movie Toy Story is as a birthday gift to a little boy named Andy.
The movie is all about the fact that Buzz Lightyear does not realize that he is a toy. He thinks he is the real Buzz Lightyear. The premise revolved around Buzz Lightyear’s conflicts with Andy’s other toys. The movie was such a huge hit that Buzz Lightyear party supplies have become extremely popular with fans of Toy Story.

Mr Potato Head was a great friend to Buzz! Start your party off with several Mr Potato Heads out on the table and have the children play and create until all the kids arrive. For younger children, print pictures of Potato head and have eyes. mouth, ears and clothing stickers to put on the paper. I would run this activity for about 20 minutes and then start a toy story game such as find Woody. Hide a Woody doll somewhere in the house and say “Buzz Lightyear to the rescue” and send all the kids to seach for him either outside (depending on weather) or inside your home.

If you’re having a Buzz Lightyear party keep in mind that Buzz loves saving people! You can purchase some green Army men from the toy store and hide them across your house and yard. Make a designated “Base Camp” by placing a tarp in the middle of the yard (or room) - get 2 discarded refrigerator boxes and cut them open on one long edge - then tape them together to make one giant line of cardboard. Paint the boxes with red or white paint, adding stripes and bright stars. Then arrange the box to make a sort of “room” around the tarp - just like Buzz’s spaceship. Have a countdown and let the kids run around looking for little green men to rescue! They’ve not only love finding the green Army men, but playing in the spaceship as well!

No more looking “To Infinity and Beyond” for your son’s next birthday party theme. Buzz Lightyear Party Supplies are perfect and help take the decorating stress off of you.
A great game to play is Buzz Message Mix-up. Ask all the guest to form a circle. Have the birthday boy think of a vital message that Buzz needs to get to all of his space rangers. He will then whisper it to the person on his right. The guest contiune in until the message getsto the person next to the birthday boy. The guest will then say the message out loud. It’s fun to hear how the message did or didn’t get around right.

For your Buzz Lightyear party rent a bounce house that has a rocket or space ship theme. Decorate the party area with stars and a moon hanging from the ceiling. A star shaped cake would be cute and for centerpieces have a Woody doll, Jessie and a Mr Potato Head. You could even have a few Mr Potato heads out on the tables for the kids to play with and while they wait their turn on the Bounce House.

Play tag but with a twist at your Buzz Lightyear Birthday party. A few days before the party cut out huge stars out of cardboard or another sturdy material. Place them on the ground at your party area. The twist is the children must stay on a star, if they are on a star Buzz LightYear will not be able to tag them. Once they are off a star they are free to get tagged. Once they are tagged then they become Buzz and get to run around and catch someone off a star. Play this game until everyone is tired and start the craft you have chosen to do.
